About the District Clerk's Office


WHAT DOES THE HARRIS COUNTY DISTRICT CLERK DO? 
 
The Harris County District Clerk has 4 primary responsibilities. They include: 

  • Primary custodian of all records for seventy-four (74) Courts in Harris County including fifty-nine (59) District Courts and fifteen (15) County Criminal Courts at Law;
  • Accounting for monies paid as deposits in civil cases awaiting disposition and all funds awarded to minors in a Court action that are paid into the Court registry;
  • Administration of the Harris County Jury Summons system; and,
  • Providing customer service to all child support cases in Harris County.
