Harris County District Clerk's Office Call Center Relocation

In keeping with his move to improve the efficiency and level of service to the county, Loren Jackson, Harris County District Clerk (HCDC), has relocated the HCDC call center to Houston, a move projected to save taxpayers at least $200,000 the very first year. The new in-house call center previously located in San Antonio is housed on the second floor of the Harris County Civil Courthouse.

The call center began taking calls this morning and is expected to field more than 200,000 calls per year, based on last year's statistics. Before the call center's relocation, individuals in need of assistance were instructed to call a toll-free number, which redirected their call to the center located in San Antonio. From there, employees at the center had to redirect the call back to the appropriate HCDC department in Houston.

Putting an end to the inefficient system, the HCDC Web site now provides a local number that connects callers directly to staff stationed within the office. This change reduces call processing time as well as the costs associated with managing employees unfamiliar with the HCDC environment while greatly improving customer service.
